We Promote Jazz Education
The DFW area has a rich connection to jazz history. Back in the day, territory bands operated between New York City, Chicago, DFW and Kansas City providing live entertainment in towns and cities. Being there and taking part in the performance, even as a member of the audience was a communal event. Attending a live big band performance can be a transformative educational experience for kids who are used to consuming music alone through a phone speaker or on headphones. We want to keep the tradition of inclusivity and community around America's classical music fresh, alive, and relevant to young people by providing opportunities for them to experience high-quality live performances. In addition, we want to partner with band directors to augment their curriculum with fine arts field trips, clinics, masterclasses, concerts, and resources. We want young people and adults alike to know that if they care about our shared musical history and want to be caretakers, too, there is room for them to take part.
